Today, our adoption agency closed its doors forever. We have known, for a few weeks, that this was coming. The internal scandal that rocked all of us in process and caused the bankruptcy could not keep it down (and 87 forever families were fully created since that awful date in July 2009), but in the end, its clients have been absorbed by an established, older agency in Toronto. That change is met with mixed feelings- the 5 women who have run the agency since it rose from the proverbial ashes, a year and a half ago, will all lose their positions, simply b/c of geography, so that is hard for them. And, it's hard for us, the waiting families b/c these women knew us... there was a certain comfort in knowing that my daughters and I were not just names or numbers on files, but real people, to them.
Collectively, the families the families received a last email from the old agency, and also I received a separate one that brings me another step closer to finally holding my newst little lady in my arms- we have a Court File Number. The next news I get will be my court DATE, and I pray it comes in record time.
But, for today, it's a new month, a new agency and my new baby is 7 months old- and we are a step closer.

Eating chunkier food
Starting to pick up pieces of food
Waving all the time
Pretending to talk on the phone
Laughing
Dancing
Pulling herself across the room by her elbows
Sleeping more predictably and for longer
I can't wait until she's home with you and you get to enjoy her every day!
