Highschool Drop IN!

Malía had a dermatologist's appointment at 12:30pm today (he- a brusque, rude, but reveered dr- says the white patches are NOT vitiligo and NOT a fungus- to discontinue all topicals and just cleanse and moisturize and they will disappear as winter sets in), so b/c we were having an extended period one with Thanksgiving Mass taking up most of the morning, (and b/c it was her 23 months b-day!) I brought her to school with me, before we left.

She hadn't been there since last spring, but she cruised the halls like a senior student, waving hello to kids and staff, alike, basking in the awwwws, and ooooohs of practically everyone she ran into.



In my gr 9 drama class, she played Ring Around the Rosie with some of my girls, literally got into the improv exercises we were doing (she actually started shouting "oh yes you did!" with her finger pointing at one girl who was repeatedly having this said to her by her "mom" LOL) and got hugged and kissed by all and sundry, and sought out the quietest boy to raise up her arms and ask for a cuddle. His smile at wonderously being picked "first", is evident. She looks unhappy, but was actually laughing and running about like a little loon, before and after this. But, on his lap, she put her head against his collar bone and stayed oh so quiet until she sat up when she saw the camera.

In mass (in the gym with over 850 people present), she actually stayed on my lap (or in my arms, on my shoulders) the whole 75 minutes! I did not care however for her finger against my lips and very firm, "Mama, don't sing!" when I would harmonize along with the choir! Anyone who could hear her stifled giggles, more than once, as she channelled Simon Cowell at my expense. She also enjoyed repeating the priest's last word in every sentence of his Homily :)

Going back to class, she insisted on independence, walking by her 3 feet tall self in the packed midst of teens nearly (and sometimes over!) twice her height.

I seriously loved having her with me, and just wish this could be my reality EVERY day :)
